COLORADO SPRINGS. For the third time in less than 12 months, a man is ready to commit himself to the priesthood in the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Deacon Kirk Slattery will be ordained in a Mass May 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. “Some of my greatest hopes are of serving people in a parish, getting to know communities and their struggles and becoming part of that. That fills out the picture of priesthood,” said Deacon Slattery. “Our formation as a priest doesn’t end when we leave the seminary. There is a lot of formation in the early years of the priesthood.” read more

'SHAMELESS'
A Commitment to Change

"Change . . . it is the shackle that binds me. Why can’t I change? Is it because I cannot give up the control that I believe I have? Is it because I don’t believe that God will truly hold me up if I choose to walk with him? It has been difficult for me to trust that God can break this pattern that has controlled my life and actions since I was a teenager."
